Cycle I establishes the visual language of CASUS.

The work unfolds through two distinct planes. A large black surface, marked by dense material textures, evokes an uninterrupted movement: a continuous flow in which existence is never still. The black field does not represent darkness, but the totality within which everything unfolds.

Suspended a few millimetres above it, a smaller panel in Caput Mortuum interrupts this movement. Historically associated with the residue left after an alchemical transformation, the pigment becomes a metaphor for what remains when the flow itself has passed. The central panel functions as a suspended frame: a single instant held still while everything surrounding it continues to move.

Resting at the lower edge of this fixed fragment is a body reduced to its essential form, worn away by the passage of existence. Rather than depicting an individual, it becomes the enduring trace of the human condition.
